IMG_2402It may be winter, but there are still a ton of great events going on on the Boston Harbor Islands! Take advantage of the wide array of activities below (all descriptions from bostonsbestcruises.com):

  • Sunset Holiday Lights Cruise: Saturday, Dec 15th and Saturday, Dec 22nd at 4 p.m.
This cruise will take you into all of the nooks and crannies of the wharfs, piers and parks that line the waterfront. Enjoy some holiday cheer with our special hot and cold drink offerings and some snacks available at the galley. Light narration (to identify points of interest) and holiday background music complete this great trip. The highlight of the trip is the vibrant blue illuminated trellis in Christopher Columbus Park which will greet us as we return to Long Wharf North. Ticket prices: Adults 13 – 64 years $20, Children (4-12) and Seniors (65+) $15, Children under 3 free.
  • Working Port of Boston Cruise: Saturdays, Dec 29, Jan 12, Jan 26, Feb 9, Feb 23 & Mar 16. See website for times.
The workings of Boston’s dynamic port are fascinating. Harbor Pilots guide 1,000 foot ships to their berths with the aid of modern powerful tub boats; Container ships, LNG carriers and cruise ships ply the waters picking up and dropping off cargo; fishing boats from deep sea daggers to harbor lobster boats are always working. To protect all of this commercial activity and the city itself, Boston is host to a major Coast Guard base and dozens of State and local law enforcement, fire and rescue vessels. After this trip, you will never look at a working port in the same way. Ticket prices: Adults 13 – 64 years $20, Children (4-12) and Seniors (65+) $15, Children under 3 free.
  • New Year’s Eve Day 45-minute Harbor Cruise: Monday, Dec 31 at 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m.
Enjoy a jaunt along the Boston Waterfront as part of your New Year’s Eve celebration. View the City lights, get a cup of delicious chowder and cup of cocoa at the galley and relax in the heated cabin. Look out the windows or venture on to the outside decks for a close up look at the water side of the city. Ticket prices: Adults 13 – 64 years $12, Children (4-12) and Seniors (65+) $8, Children under 3 free.
