With Christmas and Hanukkah over, we’re through the heart of the holiday season… but there’s still one more event to plan for, and it’s right around the corner. If you haven’t nailed down plans for New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day, don’t worry. Boston’s Best Cruises and the Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands have you covered.

Climb aboard the 5th annual New Year’s Eve Cruise Saturday night and indulge in an evening of dancing to the R&B tunes of Delaware Floyd and the Energizers. Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and toast to the New Year with a champagne cocktail—or a beverage from the onboard cash bar! Be sure to get your tickets ahead of time to take advantage of the special $65 price, as tickets are $75 at the door. And don’t forget to leave the kids with a babysitter—the cruise is a 21+ event. Departure times are 8 p.m. from Quincy Shipyard and 9:15 pm from Boston Long Wharf Ferry Center. Tickets and more information about the event can be found here.

If you’re not nursing a hangover (er… “seasickness”) the morning after, grab your family and set sail for Spectacle Island with the Friends of the Boston Harbor Island on New Year’s Day. Explore the island on your own or with the guidance of an FBHI volunteer, and pack a picnic to feast on while enjoying the beautiful scenery. The boat departs from Rowe’s Wharf at noon and returns at 4 p.m. Ticket prices range from $17 to $25 and can be purchased here. Don’t forget to bring your copy of Discovering the Boston Harbor Islands by Christopher Klein, which contains all the information you need to make the most of your day on Spectacle Island. If you don’t already own it, that’s okay. It will be available for purchase at the book and merchandise sales table the day of the event!

Happy New Year and safe sailing!
