As you have probably noticed, kids need a TON of stuff. As the seasons change and as your children grow and grow, you likely find yourself in a constant state of accruing new items to keep the little ones clothed!
It can get expensive. That’s where events like the ever-popular Children’s Drop & Shop come in. Held twice a year in and around the North Shore and the Merrimack Valley, the consignment event is a fantastic place to gather name brand children’s clothing, toys, gear, and furniture. The event kicks off this week at the Brookwood School in Manchester-by-the-Sea, with consignors doing the DROP early this week, and the SHOP part of the week taking place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (March 12-18). For details on how to sell, shop, and volunteer, use the links below to contact the organizers or check out the information available on the Children’s Drop & Shop website.
Featured in our newly released title, North Shore Baby, the Children’s Drop & Shop is a great opportunity to shop for the best bargains on new & gently used spring and summer children’s clothing, brand name toys and gear, furniture, maternity, and boutique items.
And this year, we are happy to report that Union Park Press will also be there! For one day only (Saturday), we will be there, selling North Shore Baby: A Field Guide for Parents North of Boston by Dana Rousmaniere as well as our other Union Park Press titles. Jam-packed with the information local parents need—from postnatal resources to enrolling your budding geniuses in school—this indispensable guide helps parents make the most of raising a family on the North Shore.
Children’s Drop & Shop founder Stacey Roy Lai was generous enough to share tips for consignment shoppers in North Shore Baby, and we thought that this would be the perfect time to share a few for those preparing to shop ‘til they drop later this week.
- Buy one size up for your child—clothes that are gently worn may have been exposed to high heat over time and therefore have shrunk.
- Plan ahead. Prepare for upcoming events such as weddings, holidays, and other occasions. Buying items like blazers, formal dresses, and fancy shoes on consignment will be where you save the most money (and your sanity!)
- Make a mental check list: look for stains and check zippers, clasps, and buttons
We hope to see you this Saturday at the Drop & Shop. Be sure to stop by the Union Park Press Table to say hello! If you can’t make the Drop & Shop, you can get your hands on North Shore Baby here!
