From gorgeous seaside mansions to the peaceful mountain and lakeside estates found inland, New Hampshire boasts some of the region’s most beautiful and significant historic homes. In today’s New Hampshire Union Leader, Kim Knox Beckius, author of New England’s Historic Homes & Gardens, shared some of her favorite historic destinations in the Granite State. Photographer (and New Hampshire resident) William H. Johnson was also profiled in a separate article, where he discussed New England photography and the joy of seeing some of his favorite images show up throughout the book.
While Kim was in town shooting a segment for a Portland, ME TV station about family-friendly travel destinations (more on that later!), she met up with reporter Brenda Charpentier to discuss the book, the New Hampshire sites she profiles, and her love of New England history.
New England’s Historic Homes & Gardens features thirty-six of the region’s most spectacular historic homes, all of which are open to the public. Many of these estates are surrounded by exquisite grounds and blooming gardens, making them a perfect spring destination. Pick up a copy of the book here or at your local bookstore, and get out there and experience all that New England has to offer!
