Saturday’s Boston Book Festival may have been our best one yet! The weather was gorgeous, Copley Square was buzzing with book lovers, and people flocked to the Union Park Press booth to check out our newest title, Drinking Boston, which officially goes on sale November 1st.
When we first decided to publish Drinking Boston, we knew it would be a hit, but we were still amazed at the number of people at the festival who couldn’t wait to get their hands on a copy! Author Stephanie Schorow was at our booth for a couple of hours in the afternoon signing books, and as customers waited for their autographed editions, they downloaded Drinking Boston‘s accompanying free smartphone application (get it here). Our drink coasters featuring the app’s QR code and information about the book were also a crowd favorite, and more than 100 people entered our raffle to win a giftcard to one of our favorite indie bookstores, Brookline Booksmith.
Our other titles attracted attention too, of course. History buffs couldn’t keep their hands off of New England’s Historic Homes & Gardens, and island lovers were drawn to Discovering the Boston Harbor Islands. New and expecting moms (and their friends!) picked up copies of Boston Baby and North Shore Baby, and sports lovers snapped up The Die-Hard Sports Fan’s Guide to Boston. And, as always, Boston’s Gardens & Green Spaces and Under Cape Cod Waters were crowd-pleasers.
Thanks so much to all of our readers, bookstore owners, and librarians who took the time to stop by our booth on Saturday. For those of you who we met that were unable to purchase books the day of the Book Festival (we get it—books are not the easiest thing to schlep around the city), please visit our titles on our website, or even better—head to your local bookstore and pick up a few for yourself or for your holiday gift giving. And for those of you who weren’t able to attend this year’s Book Festival, we hope to see you next year!
